Drupal Credit Union Website

Civic Federal Credit Union

Overview of work for Civic FCU Merger website design

We partnered with Civic Federal Credit Union to design a Drupal credit union website that supports the merger with LGFCU by unifying two member bases under a single, digital-first platform. Through stakeholder interviews, user persona development, and in-depth analysis of both existing sites, we created a strategy that balances community values with modern functionality. The result is a user-friendly site that reflects the new brand, streamlines navigation, and provides tools and resources tailored to both longtime LGFCU members and Civic’s growing audience. From a backend editing experience for staff to dedicated pages for business owners and in-person banking users, the site is built to support a smooth and inclusive transition.

Company Overview

Civic FCU Drupal credit union website before and after

The client engaged us to support the digital transition following the merger of two credit unions into one unified, digital-first institution. They asked us to develop a Drupal credit union website that would retain the strong sense of community valued by LGFCU members while introducing a seamless, intuitive online experience under the Civic brand. With many LGFCU members accustomed to in-person banking and living in areas with limited internet access, accessibility and ease of use were critical. In addition to front-end user experience, the client needed a scalable content management strategy and a user-friendly backend for Civic staff to easily update and build pages as the organization evolves.

During the Discovery phase, we conducted stakeholder interviews with representatives from both Civic and LGFCU to gain a comprehensive understanding of organizational goals, user expectations, and internal workflows. Next, we developed detailed user personas representing LGFCU and Civic members to better understand the needs, expectations, and behaviors of the people banking with each credit union. This research informed a streamlined, merged navigation structure that unified the content inventory from both sites, laying the groundwork for a cohesive user experience.

We performed contextual inquiries on each credit union’s existing website to observe how pages were being created and managed, helping us identify gaps and opportunities for improvement. This informed our development of a flexible, scalable Drupal credit union website that offers the Civic team autonomy and adaptability as their services continue to evolve. The site is built with many different paragraphs to afford staff the ability to create pages and customize the pages with variable options.

During the design phase, we created mockups that applied the newly unified brand colors and guidelines to establish a cohesive visual identity across the site. We designed product pages with clear, scannable layouts that make it easy for users to compare terms, features, and access helpful tools like calculators. To support intuitive navigation, we introduced a mega menu with a user-friendly hierarchy that accommodates the full range of services. We also included FAQs and Civic Guides tailored to help LGFCU members acclimate to the new digital experience. Recognizing the distinct needs of business users, we designed a dedicated homepage just for them. Additionally, we built a robust Locations page to help users, especially those accustomed to in-person banking, find branches, co-locations, and mobile banking vans with ease.

A contractual partnership between Civic Federal Credit Union and Atlantic BT means an always evolving and improving digital experience for Civic’s members. With an upgraded instance of Drupal, the Civic team is now able to take ownership of their design and site goals and make content changes on their own.
