If your website is an important part of your business the most important features you should look for when choosing a hosting company are the quality of support and the uptime and performance of the servers and network. Most “cheap” hosts cut corners on both support and performance. In order to make the profit they need, they hire less qualified support personnel which results in a higher ratio of customers for each support person. This ratio likely means during peak times you’ll wait longer for help. The same philosophy filters down to how they run their servers and networks. The more sites they can put on a server the more money they make. The only problem is often when a server reaches its capacity it can’t keep up with all the traffic and you’ll see poor performance during peak times.
