Trademark Infringement

I received a letter from a lawyer that I am infringing on another company’s trademark. I have had my site for over 2 years. Do they have a right to make me take my site down?

Before we answer this question we are required to advise you that we are not a law firm and regarding any legal matters you should consult an attorney. That being said it's possible that the company that sent you the letter is just looking to purchase your domain name and may not have any right to request that you take down your site. Things like the date that your domain was first registered in relation to the other company’s first use and registration of their trademark are important. If your domain is important to you we would suggest having a consultation with a law firm that specializes in either Internet matters, domain names, or trademarks.
