Naming a new startup
- I am starting a new business in the next few months and was looking for some tips for naming a new startup?
Ideally when you are starting a new company, you want the name to be short, sweet and memorable. You want it to be easy to say and spell. It is important that whatever name you pick that you can purchase the .com of your domain. Also go out and secure other profile names for sites like Facebook, Myspace, LinkedIn and other social networking sites.
You may also want to check with an attorney to see if there will be any legal ramifications if you use that name. If the name you pick is too close to someone else’s name, they could make you change your name or sue you.
Keep some of these things in mind when picking a name:
- Having your primary keyword in the company name will help with search engines, however it is not essential.
- How does the name look when you spell it? Do you have two of the same letter next to each other? Ex: theburgerrestaurant.com
- Could it be misspelled easily?
