Get my name out there locally
- I own a small mom-and-pop, home cleaning service in Richmond, VA. What are some of the best ways I can get my name out there in my local area?
I would start by adding your business to Google, Yahoo, and MSN's local business directories. They allow you to add a profile about your company which can show up in the search results if people are searching for what you do locally. You can also get listed in directories like the Yellow Pages, Yelp.com, and Local.com.
Also try to build links into your site from other local websites. Places like the Chamber of Commerce, local clubs and organizations, libraries, local newspapers, and friends/family can be easy ways to get links.
Make sure on your website that you add a footer at the bottom that has your local address and phone number. Also try to mix in your local city and state within the content of your site.
