Attractive website but no new business
- I have a new website that looks fantastic and I have gotten a lot of compliments for it. Unfortunately I’m not getting any new business from it, what’s the problem?
The first problem that I also look at is to see if your site has been indexed by Google, Yahoo, and MSN. You may have a problem with your new site that is preventing search engines from accessing it. Make sure you have a search engine friendly navigation and that you are not robot restricting search engines in the robots.txt file.
A second scenario is that your site has been banned from search engines. If your previous site or current site practices bad “black hat” SEO tactics, search engines can take your site out of the search engines. Remove duplicate content, hidden text or links, cloaked pages, etc.
The third scenario could be that it is a usability issue, rather than a search engine accessibility issue. It may be that your website is so hard to use from an end-user perspective that visitors are leaving as soon as they get there. Make sure that your content is easy to read, that the navigation is well organized, and that there are no programming errors. If you have an e-commerce site, double check that the shopping cart is working properly and that is it easy to use.
