Analytical Grammar
Analytical Grammar takes a systematic approach to language mastery through a series of grammar textbooks written by a retired Language Arts teacher. When a department head denied her an additional set of grammar textbooks in 1981, she began writing her own lessons, which she used until her retirement in 2003. After finding its success in the classroom, Analytical Grammar is now sold to homeschool parents across the country through its website and homeschool conventions.
Although Analytical Grammar’s old site was a functional e-commerce tool, it wasn’t very intuitive. Time and time again visitors could not comprehend how to purchase from the site and would instead resort to a phone call to place an order. Once orders were placed, handwritten invoices were extremely time consuming and order tracking was done manually. Therefore, Analytical Grammar’s goals in the new site were first and foremost an intuitive navigation and order process. A secondary goal was to automate as much as possible, reducing the time necessary to process an order.
Atlantic BT’s first step towards the new design was to rethink the navigation and order process to enhance usability. We reorganized the site into simple navigation areas and integrated an intuitive, easy to use e-commerce system. An integrated content management tool also allows for easy updates to the site’s content, which is especially helpful with maintaining the upcoming convention schedule. We also incorporated software to synchronize the shopping cart and accounting software, automating the entire process from invoice creation to order fulfillment and banking reconciliation.
