Atlantic BT President Jon Jordan was asked by The News & Observer’s Anne Krishnan to help one of her reader’s latest quandary: Is an RSS feed the easiest way to embed a blog in an already-created home page?
The answer really is ‘simple’ for Jordan, who confirmed that an RSS feed, or really simple syndication, is the easiest way to pull information from a blog onto a home page. Jordan explains that an RSS feed converts articles or blogs into a simple format for easy syndication. An RSS reader then allows the RSS feed from one web site to be embedded and displayed on other Web sites.
Most blogs have an available RSS feed, so the task is fairly easy. First, insert a JavaScript reader into the HTML code on the homepage, then configure that reader with the correct RSS URL from your blog. Jordan suggests referencing an online tool at landmark-project.com/feed2js/build.php.
