this problem popped up for me out of nowhere and id NEVER had it in 10yrs of photoshop. i tried all fixes above and none worked. i had recently installed soft of the NIK Software plugins. Since that was the only thing i could think of, i uninstalled them. i also tried the suggestion of deleting the prefrences.

when i reopened PS, i could paste again. tried restoring my prefrences, and i was still able to paste. so to ME, it seems these plugins were somehow to blame. later ill reinstall them and and see if the problem comes back, but for now, that seems to have been my cause.

regedit=hkey_current_user>software>adobe>photoshop>55.0

didnt work.
clipboard size still stuck at 1037×948 on ctrl + N.
i can copy and paste from the clipboard.
but the size is stuck.
this problem has only recently started.
worked fine for months.

The registry hack worked for me, so far…

Win 7 64-bit
Pshop CS5 vanilla (no plugins)

Awesome worked great ! I used the CS5 suggestion someone commented. (Folder 12 and naming it AlwaysImportClipboard64)

After adding QWord value mine seems to work but only imports clipboard when I star PS. Later it always pastes the same thing over and over.

I also had problem with 64bit version. I have fixed it by creating a ‘qword’ instead of ‘dword’, that pretty much means it s a 64bit value instead of a 32bit one (q for quad, and d for double). The key name is still “AlwaysImportClipboard”
